13th of December: Christmas preparations

Wow, today's been a busy day. I feel like I haven't really done anything but still I've been doing something all day long. That's why I'm showing to you today this random collection of photos of my December moments. In tomorrow's post I have something special for you! The post will be about N&D jewellery, which is a jewellery line designed and made by Jenni. I met Jenni when I was studying visual merchandising a few years ago, and now she has her own jewellery collection, where she uses recycled materials. But more about it tomorrow... And there'll be a give away too!

12th of December: Recycled Christmas Tree Ideas

I searched the web for recycled Christmas tree ideas. The Internet is full of fun, creative and even crazy ideas for unconventional Christmas trees. I chose the ones that I could actually think of having in my own home. If I have the time, I was thinking of making my own version of the recycled Christmas tree. My plan is to use old skirting-boards and paint them with white glazing paint. Let's see if I find the time next weekend!

11th of December: More Christmas Decorations

Here's an easy tip how to make unique Christmas decorations!

Shape out some round flat figures from clay, remember to make the holes for the thread! I used some kind of children's clay, which I have bought in a crafts shop already a few years back. When your clay figures are dry, apply glue on them, I like to use a paintbrush for this. Then place the round cut napkin on the clay, but before doing it, make sure that you have only the top layer of the napkin. Some napkins can have even four layers, the ones that I used had three.

I just did the other side of my decorations a few minutes ago, so they are not finished yet, but in the last picture you can see similar ones from last year. I'll show you these new ones in some later post!

10th of December: A New Pillow Cover

I got excited about block printing when I printed wrapping paper last week, and decided to use the same pattern for a pillow cover. I mixed my own colour from white, green and blue, and sewed the cover from light grey linen fabric. I really like my new pillow cover!

9th of December: Fabric Wall Art

If you want to create wall art quickly and affordably, fabric wall art is the way to go. Today I decided I finally wanted to attach the fabric to the frames I've made ages ago. When we got our fridge in a huge box a few months back, inside the box supporting the fridge, were a few wooden boards, which I of course saved for some later projects. And they were actually perfect for the fabric wall art frames. Afterwards I noticed that I hadn't attached the boards to each other straight, so now my frame is a bit twisted. In the last photo you can see what kind of wall art I had in one our earlier homes.

8th of December: Crocheting

I love crocheting! And I'm sure I've mentioned it already a few thousand times. At one point I was very excited about amigurumis, but at the moment I'm trying to finish a quilt made of granny squares. I started it already about two years ago by crocheting the squares, and now I thought it would be nice to get the quilt finished before Christmas.   Here you can find instructions for the Granny square: How to Crochet a Granny Square. The crocheted clutch is very handy for an arts and crafts person. The old button is from my mum's button collection, and suits for the clutch perfectly!

Have fun with your crocheting projects!

7th of December: Let There Be Light

It's getting darker and darker every day. Here in the country side the darkness is even more intensive than in the city. It feels like the life stops every day after the sun has gone down, people go inside their houses and the streets are so quiet. A good way to find a little bit of relief in the darkness, is to hang up Christmas lights, light up candles and make ice or snow lanterns. Here are some examples from previous years1!
